Where We Live
We’re located in the piemonte, or foothills, of the Green Mountains in Barnard, Vermont. Situated at 1700 feet, atop the Broad Brook watershed, our farm is a mosaic of fields, forests, and gardens rich with ecological diversity.
On one side of the valley lies the historic Clark Farm, 500 acres lovingly farmed for generations by the Clark family; and on the other side sits another 350 acres where the Fable Farm fermentory and venue are located. Partner farms and businesses are working together with the Vermont Land Trust for long-term stewardship of the Clark Farm.
Sharing time and resources, we are developing a model that works for the farmers, the community, and the landscape.
Come explore the pastoral beauty of our working farm landscape!
Who We Are
We are farmers, growers, herbalists, chefs, winemakers, and artists. Fable is a farm, a fermentory, a venue, and a culinary company providing farm-fresh prepared foods for various events held on the farm.
We ferment apples, pears, honey, and grapes into dry, aged wines, and work with the other member farms in our collective to provide pastured beef, pork, duck and chicken and a diverse bounty of vegetables and herbs in our culinary creations.
We host art events, theatre, and live music for the public to enjoy the fruits of rural culture, as well as intimate private events such as weddings, business and nonprofit retreats, and dinner parties on the farm.
